Mercy Johnson Okojie is an award winning Nigerian Actress, known for her versatility. In 2009, she won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. In 2013, she won the Best Actress Award in a Comedy at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award. In 2011 and 2012, she was listed as Google’s most searched Nigerian celebrity.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, on August 28, 1984, to Elizabeth Johnson and Daniel Johnson, a former Naval Officer. She hails from Okene, Kogi State, Nigeria. Growing up, Mercy Johnson moved quite frequently due to the nature of her Father’s work. She started her primary education in Calabar and completed it at the Nigerian Navy Primary School, Lagos. She proceeded to Rivers State Secondary School and Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
Mercy came into prominence in 2004 when she starred in “The Maid”. For her role, Mercy received positive applause and gained wide recognition. Following the success of the film, offers began to pour in for Mercy Johnson, and she became highly in demand. In the same year she came into prominence, she starred in “House Party”, and “Into Temptation”. In the same year, she began starring in Africa Magic Original Series, “Jemeji”.
