Nigerian film actor, director, producer, and playwright, Femi Branch was born David Babafemi Mauton Osunkoya on 14th May, 1970 to Gbolade and Modupe Osunkoya in Sagamu, Ogun State. He had his primary and secondary education at Satellite Town Primary School, Amuwo Odofin, and Airforce Secondary School, Ikeja, both in Lagos State respectively. He proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he initially enrolled to study Religious Studies but graduated with a degree in Dramatic Art.

Branch came into limelight and fame in a TV commercial for telecommunication company, MTN in 2003, and gained wider recognition as 'Oscar' in the TV series ‘’Domino’’ (2005). Branch is prominent in both Yoruba and English sector of Nollywood. He is known for ‘’Iwalewa’’ (2006), ‘’Emerald’’ (TV series, 2013), ‘’A Place in the Stars’’ (2014), ‘’Desperate Housewives Africa’’ (TV series, 2015), ‘’Out of Luck’’ (2015), ‘’Obsession’’ (2017), ‘’The Women’’ (2017), ‘’New Money’’ (2018), and ''Ajoche'' (Telenovela, 2018). Branch is also notable for ‘’Twisted’’, ‘’Omo ni Kara’’, ‘’Senseless’’, ‘’Akuko Ija’’, ‘’Omotara Johnson 3’’, ‘’Fallen Angel’’, ‘’Abela Pupa’’, ‘’Away from Home’’, ‘’The Italian Job’’, and the TV series ‘’This Life’’, ‘’Wives and Concubines’’, and ‘’Blaze of Glory’’.

Branch wrote and produced the 2005 film, ‘’Away from Home’’. He is the author of an anthology of fifty poems and three plays titled ‘’From Senbora’’.

Branch is married and has two children, daughter Nuella and son, Nathan. In March 2018, Branch was conferred with the chieftaincy title of ‘Jagun Asa of Ede Land’.
