Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju is a Nigerian Film and Stage Actress, Acting Instructor, Producer and Casting Director. She is known for her role as Funmiwo in Tunde Kelani’s 2014 film, “Dazzling Mirage”, a film adaptation of Olayinka Egbokhare’s book of the same name. In 2015, Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju won the award for Best Young and Promising Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. In 2016, she won the Trailblazer award at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju’s career cuts across Stage, Television and Film. Kemi Lala Akindoju is the CEO of The Make it Happen Productions.

Born in Lagos on March 28, 1987 to a family of four (her dad, mum and older brother), Lala as she is fondly called, attended The Fountain School, Surulere, Lagos, for her primary school education and the prestigious Queen College, Yaba, Lagos, for her secondary education. She holds a first degree in Insurance from the University of Lagos, and holds a master’s degree in Media and Communication from the Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria.

Lala began her acting career on stage in the 2005 production of “All I Want for Christmas”. In 2007, she auditioned at Terra Kulture and was selected. This led to her weekly stage performance at Terra Kulture, where she acted mainly on stage for two and half years. Lala has performed in several stage plays including: “Warlock”, Wole Soyinka’s “Trials of Brother Jero” and “Death and The King’s Horseman”, Athol Fugard’s “Sizwe Bansi is dead”, Ola Rotimi’s “God Are Not to Blame”, Uche Nwokedi’s “Kakadu: The Musical”, Ifeoma Fafunwa’s “Hear Word”. In 2014, Lala produced and performed in “The Wives”. In 2015, she produced and performed in “London Life”, “Lagos Living”, a stage adaptation of Bobo Omotayo’s book of the same name. In 2016, she performed on stage in Solomon Mac-Auley’s “A Past Came Calling”.

In 2010, Lala made her television debut in Africa’s biggest soap, “Tinsel”. In 2013, Lala made her film debut in Charles Novia’s romantic comedy, “Alan Poza”. In 2014, Lala starred in Tunde Kelani’s “Dazzling Mirage”. In 2015, Lala played the nosy house-help to Omoni Oboli’s character in Biyi Bandelele’s film, “Fifty”. In 2016, Lala starred in Rita Dominic and Mildred Okwo’s film “Surul’ere”, Kunle Afolayan’s “The CEO” and Omoni Oboli’s “Okafor’s Law”. In the same year, Lala produced “Snapped Nigeria”, the first Nigerian snap chat film. In 2017, Lala starred in Tolu Lord Tanner’s horror film, “Ajuwaya”. In 2017, she starred in Akin Omotosho’s “A Hotel Called Memory”, Shirley Frimpong Manso’s “Potato Potahto”, BB Sasore’s “Banana Island Ghost”, and Ishaya Bako’s “Royal Hibiscus Hotel”
Lala co-produced and worked as the casting director on Jade Osiberu’s hit web series, “Gidi-Up”.

Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju is single. She is a member of faculty; and a facilitator at the Lufodo Academy of Performing Art. Lala is the initative and host of Open Mic Theatre.
