South African film and TV actress, scriptwriter, and director Thishiwe Ziqubu was born on 5th August, 1985. She attended the African Film and Drama Academy at the Johannesburg campus, and studied Acting for Film at New York Film Academy, Los Angeles campus.

Ziqubu made her acting debut as ‘Zodwa’ in Akin Omotoso’s ‘’Man on Ground’’ (2011). She is known as ‘Skiets’ in Zee Ntuli’s ‘’Hard to Get’’ (2014), as ‘Shado’ in Catherine Stewart’s ‘’While You Weren’t Looking’’ (2015), as ‘Sira’ in Clement Virgo’s ‘’The Book of Negroes’’ (miniseries, 2015), as ‘Tshaka’ in Akin Omotoso’s ‘’Tell Me Sweet Something’’ (2015), as ‘Mbali’ in John Barker’s ‘’Wonder Boy for President’’ (2016), and as ‘Evelyn Mandela’ in Kevin Hooks’s ‘’Madiba’’ (2017). In 2016, she won the award for Best Supporting Actress at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards for her role as ‘Tshaka’ in ‘’Tell Me Sweet Something’’.

Ziqubu owns writing and directing credits in ‘’Out of Luck’’, ‘’Subdued’’, and ‘’Between the Lines’’, all short films respectively.

Ziqubu is openly gay, and in a relationship with actress, Mandisa Nduna.
